Hey, I'm Tyler 👋
I'm a software developer who's spent the last few years building across web, desktop and mobile, and I'm now moving into cyber security. It feels like a natural next step. The parts of building software I've always enjoyed most are thinking about threat models, locking down what an app exposes, and asking "what happens if someone tries to abuse this?"
Day to day I work mostly in Python and TypeScript, with React, Electron and Node.js for desktop and web, and Flutter/Dart for Android. I've also written C++, C# and Java along the way. I like local-first software: apps that keep your data on your machine, bind to localhost, and don't phone home.
On the security side I'm working through TryHackMe. I've just earned the Pre Security (SEC0) certification and finished the Pre Security learning path. To make the studying stick I'm building Recon, a desktop companion that turns my room notes into an Obsidian vault and flashcards.
Alongside my own projects I take on contract work. I've built tooling for a self-employed cyber security consultant and delivered a software project for a charity, and I like problems that sit where software, hardware and security meet.
